Orcas

Land-based whale watching offers a peaceful way to observe whales without disturbing their natural behaviour or habitat. By avoiding boats, it reduces noise, pollution, and the risk of vessel strikes, making it a low-impact, conservation-friendly way to experience whales. All of these photos were taken from land near Victoria B.C., and include various pods from the Bigg's (transient) orca population. Bigg's orcas, unlike the endangered Southern Residents, feed on marine mammals such as seals and sea lions, and are more frequently seen close to shore.
